3D Foamy Mini Sukhoi Build thread!
I have built a mini sukhoi and am going to do a build thread and flight video over the next week or 2. I Built this in about 2 hours, so It went fast! Il do a brief overview today and then tie up loose ends later. Il try to be as thourough as possible, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK! Here we go...
pict 1: Here are all the parts layed out.... The setup is going to be a Hacker A-20/34m falcon 3s1p 380's and a castle creations 10 amp speed control, 4 hs 55 servos and GWS RX (dont give me crap about having a 9Z on a foamy, ive already gotten the riot act...
Pict 2: Here are are about to laminate the nose...this is very different from most foamys and increases motor strength emensely!
pict 3: Nose laminating. Lay out center part and embed provided carbon fiber into the precut grooves and glue. Then put laminates on, The laminates need to have one long laminate on one side and short laminate on the other. Long is for the top and short for the bottom side rail
pict 4: laying down the laminates
pict 5:Nose laminating almost finished, Be sure everything is straight, look twice glue once.
pict 6: After the side rails are laminated then insert into the interlocking grooves in the fuse. Glue the side rails into place and ensure that they are 90 degrees to the fuse!
Pict 7: Here is the wing lamination, the idea is to lay down one side of the wing laminate and glue securely, then flip it over and lay in the carbon fiber rod, lay a line of glue in the spar groove then insert the spar to ensure the spar in securely fastened....
pict 8: Elevator Hinging: Lay stab and hing down and Bevel the bottom of the elevator, For fear of beeing repetitive, Use alcohol to wipe off dust. Then place a piece of hinge tape to hinge the elevator. Slide into the fuse and the center will interlock, slide the trailing edge of the stab back and forth till it is centered and 90 degrees to the fuse and parylell with the wings.
picture 9: Aileron hinging: You will need to bevel the bottom side of the aileron with sand paper, Building tip, Use rubbing alcohol to wipe off dust particals for hinging , this will ensure you get the best possible hing. Place a layer on top of the aileron, then use little sections of tape on bottom, make sure aileron is lifted all the way up when placing tape underneth the wing to alow free movement.
picture 10:Tail Bracing: The pieces in the picture show the tail bracing, Bevel both ends to 45 degrees and then lay a bead of glue to the bevel and place it to the fuse at a 45 degree angle as shown (again wipe with alcohol before aplying glue go get the best possible bond)
