Default RE: 9caf range check

Hi DaddySam,

The antenna should AlWAYS be extended with the first or thickest portion out of the transmitter. Collapsing the antenna completely and powering up the radio can harm the module.

I hope you find this information helpful. You can also reach our Futaba support technical team at 217-398-8970, or via fax at 217-398-7721.

Sincerely,
Krysta

Hi
I'm using a Futaba 9CAF with the synthesized freq module, and was wondering about the antenna position during a range check. The module gets warm (as per usual I'm told) and I'm concerned about using the Tx with the antenna all the way retracted. I did a range check this afternoon with just the first section extended and I ran out of room after about 150 feet (not at a flying field). Should the antenna be all the way retracted or up one section?
Thanks
Sam
