Doesn't the Saito 180 weigh pretty much the same as the Saito 120?
Yes! That's exactly WHY the new Saito 125 is so exciting!
For the power to weight conscious flyer, the 2.5 oz diff between the 180 and the 120 makes ever buying a 120 sort of a silly move. Unless fuel consumption, vibration or prop clearance was an issue, there was no real choice but to go with the 180.
However, this left a huge void in Saito's line between the excellent Saito 100 and the Saito 180. There simply wasn't a good lightweight compromise, which is why the YS 110 (another great engine) has really no competition until the Saito 125 arrives.
