Simulators also have the disadvantage that you can't really see the ground in relation to the airplane so setting up your reference points for approaches and landings are actually more difficult on the sim.

learn how to set up your sim , and as far as learning how to fly safely on the sim that is just as easy as not crashing or hitting anything, having total control from ROG to landing. Besides safety can't be taught , it is the attitude you have and the actions you carry out when you fly. GL
