Default RE: how much thrust??

Sed ... what they heck is your problem? Mikey is just excited and telling us what motor he has and how it performs in a hover. Sheeesh ... its RC for pete's sake not some mensa debate forum.

Wan - general rule of thumb is 1.5 times power to weight ratio or 150W per pound. You need a motor that will turn an APC 9x3.8 at about 8,000+ RPM or perhaps a 10x3.8 at about 7,500+ RPM. The Hacker A20 if you want to go outrunner is a great motor, so is the Himax 2812. If you want real all out performance for the 18 pz plane go with the Himax 2816 or Hacker A30, 25A ESC and a battery that can handle about 25A-28A continous discharge.

I got a Himax 2816 turning a 10x3.8 on my Fliton Prodigy (20 oz) and she will go vertical like a freight train and goes on and on and on ...
