Hi Jordan!
Welcome to the wonderful world of R/C! I was reading your post and see that you're affiliating with the US Naval Sea Cadets. What Unit are you with? I'm the CO of the Trenton Division and this last Spring my Club did a Sea Cadet Flying Day, which we will be doing every year. I did the Ground School with the Cadets for 2 drills (Feb/March 05) and we went to the field in April. If you look in the September issue of Model Aviation, in the District II update, you'll see the write up and pictures from that. My Cadets had the time of their lives, and one even joined my Club with his Dad.
If you like the Military, you'll love the Sea Cadets. And you'll certainly love flying R/C, once you get into it! Like they said before, empty your wallet at the Hobby Shop and have an open mind!
Happy Flying!
Don
