Gassers dont require bench running, Mount it to the plane, set the hi end for max rpm and back it off 300-500 rpm, set the low end for good transition. and fly it. adjust as nessasary as it brakes in.
If you just have to hear it run, remember cooling is never as eficiant on the ground without the ram air effect of flight. And the highest load conditon possible, is full throttle on a stationary bench.
