You can do this. The problem you are probably going to experience is that one battey is going to go down much faster than the other because regulators whose outputs are tied together do not play well together. One regulator is going to try and hog the duties, running its battery down faster. There is not way around this. Sometimes you get a balance where the difference is not too bad and some people live with this.
