all programs that I have seen so far you need to have the transmitter turned on to run the sim. when you do either pull the antenna out to the first segement , to ceep from burning up the transmitting circuit, or pulling the crystal out of the radio. If you pull out the crystal You are not using the transmitting circuit so you will use less battery power thus youcan run the sim longer on one charge.
