Factor into your decision what your local hobby shop carries parts for. Be patient, save a month or two, and get the truck you really want. Going cheap in the beginning typically ends up costing you more in the end.
My two cents...For a basher, pick up a Savage.
What redbarton said. Buy what YOU want and can get parts for. Even if you have to save up to buy it. If you settle for that lesser truck, you will always wish you had bought the one you wanted.
