Default RE: Second Plane for Avistar Owner

I think learning on an Avistar and pushing your skills is a great way to fly better. You sure sound ready for a more precise and faster plane. I, also, still have my Avistar and like to fly it. That is one really good acrobatic trainer once the weak area in front of the tail is fixed. :-)

I went from an Avistar to a GP SuperSportster 40. I also don't care much for the way sticks look. I really like the Sportster looks and the way it tracks. It is a fast plane but it also slows down well. I just bought an assembled Sportster 60 after much searching off of the Buy&Sell and am looking forward to flying it. I agonized between the SSportster and the FourStar but found the angst I had about
needing the FourStars forgiveness to be unnecessary.

I found the transition to the 40 pretty easy. I found the tail wheel to be a non-issue. The speed was a bit hard to get used to at first but you can just throttle back with this plane. The issue is that this plane has been discountinued if you want it in the 60 size. There is a 40 ARF if you are willing to stay at that size. I am using the SSportsters as a stepping stone the VectorFlight Edge 540 (glad I got one now!) I am finishing. It sounds like you might also be headed in that sort of direction. Have fun no matter what your choice!
