Yes, It will work. However, this system obstructs somewhat the gas flow and lowers the effective thrust of the turbine (you can even see the shockwaves on pic 1) . One idea I got when I saw the rookie video is to install 2 electric ducted fans concealed near the wing tips. This could turn a rookie with a 2D vectoring nozzle into a full controllable hovering machine retaining its full speed capability.

A Rookie hovering over a monokoted Extra or Sukhoi would be fun!
