ive decided not to modify typhoon it flys very well stock and after weighing out options.. for 3D it has good power.. its geared 8 to 1 so it makes a lot of torque early in its powerband for hovers and high alpha stuff.. it has a rather thick airfoil so increasing top end power wouldnt increase its top end speed as well as in other planes i modified/if your interested in modifying it still i could give you some suggestions as to how i would do it. the gearbox accepts standard 400 class inrunners so that would be an easy upgrade.. stock motor is 400 3700kv brushless and works well. i had thought about running the e-flite 480 outrunner which is out now and modifying firewall with stick mount or e-flite firewall stick mount adapter. the typhoon has a fairly large wing area and it helps it to fly rather light for its weight. it could make noticeable increases in performance with higher powered set up but would lose run time and probally draw more amps and you would still need to figure out what props work best with new set up. ive moved into micro helis and im concentrating mostly on their set ups now.. if you still want to modify typhoon heres a link to another forum that i posted some pics of a motor modification to.. the planes performance increased all around being modified
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_31..._7/key_/tm.htm others have modified theres and been very happy with results. it should give you some ideas if you want to modify typhoon. if you do modify typhoon please post pics and results and video would be great. thanks and hope this helps
