1. That hole is for the air to escape after moving through the fuselage. It helps cool the battery and speedcontrol.
2. The speedcontrol should be fine. If you had to add 14 grams to your plane you might want to save your money and purchase a 3 cell 2100 battery. The Thunder Power. This battery will take care of the 14 grams. the 2100 weights about 5.5 ounces. Your 3 cell 1900 weights about 4.9 oz.
