RE: Third scale Tiger Moth
Bla Bla, I do agree that the sight and sound of a gear reduction is superb, as I have a DH2 pusher that has a Z62 and a belt reducer on it, which turns a scale prop (30in diameter) at 3500 rpm. The DH2 is Third scale and 113" span. I have seen the Toni Clark reducer, and was going to fit one to the Tiger, but the unit doesn't fit completely in the cowl, it pokes out of the bottom which is a shame but out of the question. Perhaps there is a different unit available from him? The Z62 will sound great in this though, as it will be propped with a scale diameter prop, keeping the revs down, and it will fly at much less than half throttle, keeping the exhaust note down. Also, the exhaust is a large capacity, baffled, thick walled aluminium job which also is the engine mount itself. I do have to make a longer propdriver for the Z62 though, but it is worth it to keep it in cowl.
