hey dave

long time since i've brought any info on my motor but i thought i'd let you in on what happened to it ... when i was setting the magneto i tried over and over to get the gap rite but i think when i fixed the plate i knocked it about 2 degrees out from original. i finally got it sparking after trying for about 3 hours but the only way it would work was if the magneto rubbed on the wheel on the opposite side of the magnets. i thought this would be fine coz it would have to wear away soon enuf. HOW WRONG I WAS!!! when i was trying to start it it would pop a few times but it wouldn't kick over hard enough 2 get it running. after about 10 mins of trying to start it, i was kicking it over when all of a sudden the damn thing just exploded. it fill the surrounding area with white smoke and blew the air filter off the end of the carb. after this happened i gave up on starting it and just decided to dismantle it for parts for the new motor. when i was taking off the flywheel, i found the key had chewed out the inside of the wheel causing it to fire when the piston was at the bottom of the cylinder (the wheel had turned 180 degrees on the shaft). talk about your all time backfires ... LOL but now i got a new motor and i've done some killed mods so hopefully i wont break the mounting plate again.
