There would have been some documentation that came with your ESC or it might be written on the ESC it self.
What you should look for is the "Amp rating", it might look like ( 40A ) printed on the ESC.
Now you know how many amps your ESC can handle during normal operation.
Next consider your engine choice.
Check out the site where you are buying it from and look at the power requirements of the engine.
Check to see the max amp draw from the engine at stall, is less than or equil to your ESC rating.
So, in short if your engine needs more amp's than your ESC can delliver even if you get fishing line or weed caught in the prop, "POOF" thanks for coming.
