Just got back my DA50 which i had sent in for updates (got the new crank and carb-block mods). Note: i wasn't having any major problem, it did (only occasionally) die on the runway when taxiing if you turned - it had NEVER died in the air.

Anyway, DA's service was great. They replaced (all at no charge) piston, ring, rod, crank, carb-block, sparkplug (and maybe a few other minor items).

my question is, having a new piston and ring...do i have to go back to petroleum oil (like break-in) or can i stick with synthetic?
