Anyone know if an OS 61 FX will fit into a Hangar 9 Twist 3d?
Ben, the answer is yes, as you've discovered. Here's a picture of my .61 in the Twist. I found NO reason to cut the cheeks in any manner. With the needle vavle set vertical (unseen behind the head in the picture) it's a great fit. The only need to doctor the front end is the motor mount. 15 minutes with a Dremel tool and an Exacto knife did the job. I was surprised it was so easy. My 82a Saito took much doctoring and cutting of the cheeks to get it in there.
As I said before, I mounted the battery below the canopy base under the rear ply knock-out, painted the canopy black, so the hole in the Ultrakote can't be seen, and secured it with a rubber band using the rear wing support--the ply with three small knock-out holes in it. The receiver is in front of that, BELOW, the wing seat. The CG came in at 4.25 inches.
I maidened the bird yesterday. Superfine--can't wait to get in the air again.
Good luck.
