If you want fixed pitch and you're new, get the #4 instead of the 22.
The 22 can/will fly, and well, at that, if you can set it up. But the tail is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to setup properly. This isn't even so much a fault of Walkera, as they merely cloned the design from MS Composit, which was flawed. Do a search on the MS Hornet line of helis and you'll see how many complaints the tail system has. When it's setup and configured properly, it works VERY well. When it doesn't, though, watch out!
It's just a very poor tail system in my opinion that requires way to much fiddling to get proper performance out of it.
The only nice thing, of course, is that you don't have to put up with tail motors, and tail response is lightning quick. The 22D will snap the tail around (with a good servo and gyro that is) quicker than just about any other FP micro out there.
For those who are interested, i'll have a post up in the coming week or two of my heavily modified 22D. Trying to turn a volkswagon into a porche. Not sure if i've suceeded yet, haha.
