I was wondering what r the pro's and con's of the new 2006 dragonfly 22D intruder 3D helicopter is? I was looking at it on ebay and it looks like a nice heli. I was wondering if it is a good buy for a beginner.

For beginner, go for the esky lama 2 or the new walkera no. 5 version 4. They are good for beginners. The 22D may be difficult for the beginer to set it up. Need a lot of trimming

i agree.. ive seen way too many newbies thinking they can handle it without any help and they send up crashing and blaiming it on the maker and saying it's a crappy heli.
unless you know someone that can heli you like a local hobby store than go ahead and buy a cp. if not it might be a little hard for a 100% know nothing at all beginner to setup.
with a fixed pitch helicopter such as df4 and other simular products you just straigten out the blade and trim a little bit and it's pretty much ready to go. Im not saying it's easy to fly them it's just a lot easier to setup

If you want fixed pitch and you're new, get the #4 instead of the 22.
The 22 can/will fly, and well, at that, if you can set it up. But the tail is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to setup properly. This isn't even so much a fault of Walkera, as they merely cloned the design from MS Composit, which was flawed. Do a search on the MS Hornet line of helis and you'll see how many complaints the tail system has. When it's setup and configured properly, it works VERY well. When it doesn't, though, watch out!
It's just a very poor tail system in my opinion that requires way to much fiddling to get proper performance out of it.
The only nice thing, of course, is that you don't have to put up with tail motors, and tail response is lightning quick. The 22D will snap the tail around (with a good servo and gyro that is) quicker than just about any other FP micro out there.
For those who are interested, i'll have a post up in the coming week or two of my heavily modified 22D. Trying to turn a volkswagon into a porche. Not sure if i've suceeded yet, haha.
