RE: W.M. Extra 300 S
Here finally got some pics going, sorry about the quality took it, from the mobile phone.
As you can see in the pics the the da50, and the, reinforced wing bracket to support the wings instead of the flimsy bolt nut and self tapping screw that WM incorporated, the entire firewall has been run over with epoxy, and finally agev a coat of paint for added protection.
Going to cg the plane hopefully this week, came across this interesting article on another forumn
I qoute " For sure you need extra power to do a good hovering and other 3D maneuvers. Something like 1 to 1,4 kg/HP.
I see more details:
World Models reccomend a 1.6 engine like OS160; this engine is 0,95 kg weight.
The DA50 is 1,33 kg, so you will need to compensate the CG about 0,38 kg. Maybe you will need to add some weight in the tail. Zenoah is almost 2kg ! No way! To compensate about 1,1 kg will be crazy and you will increase a lot the wing load. ( Drop like a stone in this case, even if you compensate the CG).
With DA 50, and the plane around 7kg, you will have about 1,4 kg/HP, more than enough for a good 3D.
So, I think your best choice is the DA50 and do not forget to reinforce the plane for this powerfull engine.
I do not know if the hinges supplied in the kit are good enough and I reccomend some fiberglass reinforcement in the fire wall.
Also use good and strong servos.
Good luck and good flights "
Which should be nearly the same when I cg the plane this week.
