Well I dont know if you have tried to use these old technique, to get the oil and paint of your old kaos try to do as follows:

1.- Moist the fuse with some thiner(a thiner without oil works the best), and blow hot air from youre heat gun, have a cloth or some wipping material so that you can take off the grease that comes off while you apply heat,

2.- after doing the wipping a coupple of times take some sand paper and re do the sanding ( I use 3-4 diferent grits)

3.- After youre happy with the suface find some BALSA RITE (coverite brand) and brush the whole thing(you can thin these with toluene), these will help to get some grip for the covering......

4.- SAND the whole darn thing again with a 800/1200 grit wet sand paper(do not use any watter)
and get to youre wood piking (use a 1/2*1/2) balsa stik with T pins across and re do de final sanding....

5.- Take youre covering cut peal and iron
