Yeah, there has always been "selective moderation" here; even back in the RCOnLine days. Advertising dollars do talk the loudest, it would seem.
Balsabandit, the whole idea behind ARFs is to avoid the involved parts of modeling; i.e., framing and covering. While I agree that some ARFs are junk, pure and simple, most of the ones I've dealt with assembled into decent models. Yes, most could stand some "sprucing up". But what you might want to modify, I might leave as is; and vice versa.
Yes, the vendors get very creative with ad copy. The most ludicrous I can recall were the Great Planes/Hobbico ads of some years back that led you to believe you could open the box at eight a.m. and be at the field ready to fly at five thirty p.m. Right.
You have to "get your mind right" when dealing with ARFs. They are not NEARLY , especially almost, ready to fly. But they are generally worth the money paid for them, IMO.
And as for thread closures/deletions here; some pigs are more equal than other pigs. Yeah, its a bit cheesy. But... their house, their rules.
