I can't find anywhere on the web site that tells me who to contact about a deleted thread. I know mine about V Mar got deleted. I just want to understand what I did wrong so that I don't do it again.

RCU is usually pretty good about letting someone have a say, but my guess would be that V-Mar was getting beat up a little to much, and they deleted it so as not to drive away those advertisement dollars from Vmar. VMar gets beat up on a regular basis here on RCU, and I have probally seen more threads deleted that are related to Vmar than any other. The very word Vmar encites lots of anger which usually leads to alot of flaming, degrading, and just plain arguing! Vmar threads rarely go very well on RCU!

Never got an e-mail. I know the rules say that I should have, but I didn't. I got several when other folks posted, and couldn't even read their replies because the thread had already been deleted.
Any of you guys know how to look up the moderators? I just want to know what the big deal was. I did not say anything that wasn't true, and I did invite others to make their own opinions.
Guess it really doesn't matter. This is all really just play for most of us. Probably best just to lay down the issue, and get back to enjoying the sport.

Here is an address I got from Marc when I asked him about what I felt was an over zealous moderator.
[email protected]
He was very encouraging about asking questions concerning how moderators perform their duties.
I'd write them
Good luck!

I understand where they are coming from.

My observation is this: Most (if not all) of the time, when a manufacturer/distributor is getting beaten up, it is usually for good reason. I too have been called down by a, "Moderator" and I have on more than one occasion taken exception to it. Some of the time, Others have supported me, and other times they have taken the side of the Moderator, and in at least one instance, they without exception took the side of the distributor.
I am very new with the ARF type of model airplane. (the one that I am assembling is the first) and I suppose that most (if not all) of you have come to expect to have to rebuild or re-engineer the model as a matter of course. I have been scratch building and kit and plan building for the last 56 years, and I never expected to have to do so much work on anything that is advertised as being, "READY TO FLY" thus the reason for my outrage. This was taken as an attack on one of the companies that obviously is the, "Pet" of the ARF world. This was not my intent. I just wondered why we did not get what we originally paid for.
So my analysis of the situation is this. Watch the other threads, and if most of the responders are, "Beating up" on the distributor, then by all means feel free to join in. If, however, the distributor that you have a beef with has been known to, "Buy" the loyalty of the masses by replacing what everyone knows to be a problematic or defective part (rather than correcting the problem at the source) then I would consider calling the distributor down on this thread, detrimental to your credibility within the R.C. world.
You will (in my experience) be brought up short by the, "Lord of the realm" better known as the moderator. (these guys were probably hall monitors in public school)
Just my observation/opinion. (ought to be yours)

Yeah, there has always been "selective moderation" here; even back in the RCOnLine days. Advertising dollars do talk the loudest, it would seem.
Balsabandit, the whole idea behind ARFs is to avoid the involved parts of modeling; i.e., framing and covering. While I agree that some ARFs are junk, pure and simple, most of the ones I've dealt with assembled into decent models. Yes, most could stand some "sprucing up". But what you might want to modify, I might leave as is; and vice versa.
Yes, the vendors get very creative with ad copy. The most ludicrous I can recall were the Great Planes/Hobbico ads of some years back that led you to believe you could open the box at eight a.m. and be at the field ready to fly at five thirty p.m. Right.
You have to "get your mind right" when dealing with ARFs. They are not NEARLY , especially almost, ready to fly. But they are generally worth the money paid for them, IMO.
And as for thread closures/deletions here; some pigs are more equal than other pigs. Yeah, its a bit cheesy. But... their house, their rules.
