Default RE: W.M. Extra 300 S

Well no luck on the weekend to fly her, the wm300 extra spent her time in the garage doing checks and rechecks, came across a problem with excessive vibration from the engine being mounted to the firewall directly.

Close inspection yielded the following issues.

Fuel tank was not clamped down enough, so inserted foam and balsa blocks to support the tank in one position completely, as opposed to the stock tank mount. The amount of air bubbles that was generated previously directly related to the execessive vibration has stopped completely. Engine is running better.

The engine needles were rich, causing alot of mid range stutter, readjustments were necessary, which resulted in a smooth idle, will need to tach the engine this coming weekend.

Though the engine vibration is excessive, I believe the prop is out of balance and will require some sanding to balance things out, hopefully lessening the amount of vibration.

I would believe a monokote film placed on the one side of the prop, and prop to be aligned counter the direction of the crakshaft rotation would do the trick.

Will provide feedback shortly.
