Default Beating 1/1 scale car with an RC?

Is it possible to build a smaller RC car/truck (1/10, 1/18, etc.) that could regularly beat a full-scale automobile in a race? Flat-out on level pavement with no turns or anything, a distance of about 1/8 mile? My only experience with "ridiculous" levels of speed is a mamba-powered mini-T that can hit 40-50mph, maybe 60mph top if you have the space in which to run it. Does the speed scale up well with size... ie would a similarly built 1/10th with a brushless be able to hit anywhere near 90+ mph? Or do you start running into a 'wall' at a certain speed and is beating a full-scale car in a race just a pipe dream? My fastest 1/10th scale right now is a buggy with a 19-turn, and I don't think it goes much above 30mph on pavement.
