Is there any performance advantage to removing the baffle from the stock muffler on a YS110? Noise is not a huge issue at my field, and looking to make my warbird scream even more if possible....Not as if the 110 doesn't scream along as it is or anything...

A quick search didn't return anything specific, other than reports that some aftermarket mufflers (e.g. Slimline pitts) allow the engine to "breathe better" and hence increase performance somewhat. Didn't want to go that route necessarily, as the stock muffler fits my cowled installation, but I guess that leads into a second question: do the aftermarket mufflers really make a difference other than a cleaner cowled install?
