Default RE: Wild Hare Sukhoi

After flying the prototype with the G-62 my comment to Tom was that he had found a perfect home for the G-62. There aren't many/any composite planes in that size. The plane balanced fine, there was plenty of power for anthing I wanted to do, the weight was fine - really no downside. After flying the overpowered Sukhoi I have, I would gladly put a G-62 back in if I had one as it's all the engine needed to really wring the plane out.

Do you think the G-62 has the necessary power for GOOD 3D? I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about these engines. I'm one of the guys who always thought they weren't much good for anything but overweight warbirds. I put one on a WH Edge I built last fall but never even got to fly it. Some guy offered me a "to good to pass on" offer for it when I took it to the field for its maiden & I sold the plane without ever flying it. He flies it occasionally, but just goes around in circles.

I picked up two of these engines last summer for $650.00 & been trying to find a use for the one I have left ever since. If it would recover from a hover gone bad without making me need to change my shorts, I could probably live with that. Like I implied, I like good power but it doesn't have to be insane. I know the 3W will be similar to your ZDZ 80 & you are right, that is insane.
