Krysta, I have always mounted the grommet from the bottum up so that when the screw is toghtened, it will only compress the rubber so far, and therefore provide some rubberized isolation against vibration, The head of the grommet being down also acts as a washer against thr mounting platform. The straight end would only cut into the wood if mounted down.
