Hello Everyone!
I'm a newbie here on rcuniverse.com as well as to r/c flying. I'd just like to say thank you to everyone for the information and tips they have posted on this thread as it has been extremely helpful and invaluable to a beginner such as myself.
I've been building model aircraft since I was a young boy and have allot of experience building static plastic and balsa models. About 15 - 20 years ago my girlfriend at the time purchased a simple beginners Styrofoam radio controlled aircraft for me; however being young and stupid I thought I could just take it out and learn how to fly it - lets just say its demise was rapid ….. lol [

I've always wanted to get into r/c aircraft; unfortunately I was either lacking the time or financial means to do. I've managed to reach a point in my life where this is now possible.
I've been reading articles in R/C magazines and researching stuff online as well as speaking to local individuals in my area who are involved in the hobby for the past 6 months or so and I recently decided to purchase Hanger 9's P51 PTS. (it should be here in the week or two

) - Then I stumbled upon this thread while surfing.
It has taken me two days to read through all the information posted here! - This is great …
Although my career profession is in the aviation industry as an airline transport pilot I realize that I don't know anything about R/C flying and will have to start from the ground up. Conversely the only thing I truly know that R/C aircraft and full scale pilots have in common is a love of flying.
Hopefully I have made a good choice in my purchase, and that I can find someone here to teach me how to fly properly.
I plan to join the Regina Windy Flyers Club and fly on the buddy box system with an IP until I earn my wings and can soar by myself.
I figure that once an instructor flies my P51 PTS and spends some time with me at the controls - if he feels that this plane is too much for me, I can use this radio's two plane capabilities and get another primary trainer like an easy 40 to learn on (hopefully this won't be the case as I truely love warbirds) but if it has to be - then thats the way it will be.
I can hardly wait for my aircrafts arrival and plan to implement the information provided here by all of you to get her ready before her maiden flight. Until then I will build my flight pack box, get all my needed accessories purchased, and continue to absorb all the information I can.
If any of you can provide me with any help or suggestions - it would be greatly appreciated !
