Default RE: W.M. Extra 300 S

If I were coaching a guy beyond trainers, I'd want to see him move up to the Sig Somethin' Extra, or something else with full aerobatic potential, and see him learn the IMAC Basic maneuvers. Then I'd want to see him do the same with something in the 68--72" wingspan range, and put his 1.20 two-stroke on such a plane. There are plenty of good ARFs and kits in this range, including Extras, CAPs, Edges, Yaks... Truth be told, he should also be flying and crashing a few low investment stick and profile funflies in along with all this.

I think someone with a lot of experience could maybe coax loops and humpties out of the WMExtra with a well-tuned 1.40 two-stroke and a good exhaust set-up (piped & pumped), but a 160FX is a more realistic powerplant. There is nothing more pitiful than to go up into a half reverse cuban, do your half-roll, and then find you have no thrust and no momentum to carry you up the rest of the leg. I did that once, and once was enough.
