I'm assuming that your 4EXA is in 72mhz, the aircraft band. If so, the answer is you absolutely can not use it for boats, or cars. FCC regs provide separate bands for surface and aircraft to minimize the chances of interferance. Get yourself a good 2 or 3 channel radio for the boats. Edit: I haven't used the 4exa, but I've got it's big brother, the 6exa. The 4 channel version should be a good introductory radio. However, if you haven't flown before, the Goldberg Cub is not a good choice for a first plane. A trainer would be much better.
