Yes Tony, it is very easy to start by hand. With the ignition off (grounded) choke the engine until it is wet at the carb. To do this, once the gas gets to the carb flip it about 2 times with your thumb over the carb intake.

Set the prop so that it comes up on compression, while facing the engine, at about 11:00. Carb at idle, ignition on. Prop the engine with a downward swing (slap). Your hand should naturally come out of the prop arc as you swing through. It is a good idea to use a glove at least until you are comfortable starting it.
