Default 350C 3d... 2C or 3C???

I will buy a 350 C dx and I will want to know what batteries to use; I know that with the 3C setup I will get very nice performance but I will fry the engine... I want to know if it is possible to do 3D with 2 cells (lipo) on a 11-13 oz plane

HELP!

Thanks

Ps: If it don´t rockett out of hover I dont mind

It's possible to run a 350 motor on 3S, you just have to prop down - "Its not volts that kill motors, its amps"

On motocalc, 17oz of thrust is possible on 2S, while staying under 10A (1.5:1 thrust:weight ratio). I've also heard of lower (7.6A) draws with a 12x6 prop in real life. I would suggest you find someone with an ammeter and just experiment with different props.

In short, 2S on a 350 will work for 3D, just not as well as a brushless [:@]

As for ATV, its all about personal preference

very interesting response, so, less prop means less amps? or not always?

Less pitch/diameter prop and low geared will reduce the number of amps drawn. Always. [:-]

Daniel, I flew my Mountain Models tantrum with the same motor and gear as you. I found that a 2S 1500 Kokam and either a 12x6 or 11x4.7 an ability to hover at around 60 - 70%throttle!!!! I have not tried a 3S on the 350.

I have also found that my tantrum kept the motor relatively cool with the 11x4.7 and just slightly warm with a 12x6!

I have since switched to a Himax 2015-5400 on the same gear and WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 2S will hover with the 12x6 at 1/2 throttle, and only draw around 12 amps at full static!!! 3S and a 10x4.7 ... SSSSWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTNNNNEEESSSSS!!!!

I think the 2S will give you good performance, the 3S will obviously be better. BUT the 3S will wear the motor out a little faster.

Just my thoughts,

Reg

PS My last 350 with D has about 2 hours of run time on it with a 2S and 12x6 and would still be running strong!

Daniel,

If you are even thinking of 3S on the 350, stay away from the C box!!! the D box is fine! With the 2S pack, the 12x6 is REALLY nice!!! The 11x4.7 is a very close second best! With the 3S you want to go with the 10x4.7!

The best thing would be to buy one of each 10x4.7 11x4.7 12x6 an try them all!

Just my thoughts,

Reg
