Default Prop Sizes and EPA control

I am having a Brushless/prop problem.. I was running a pjs 1000 3d (max load 25 amp) with a 3s lipo and a 11x4.7 it was running to much amperage and i fried my pjs. So i bought another PJS 1000 and a 9x6 prop....my plane almost has no pull after 20-30 secs of flight. NO pull i means i cant shoot up verticle any more just barley clim up or hover with 100% throttle.

Now i also bought a wattage meter along with new pjs....running a 9x6 prop i was pulling like 22amps WOT. The wattage was like 220 then rapidly dropping to around 180-190 and holding for a few mins. That is ok but i dont have the extream verticle i had with the 11x4.7.

Now while running 11x4.7 i actually measured it and was pulling a astronomicle 31-32 amps....way too much for the rated 25 amp max.

My real question is can i run my 11x4.7 and limit my throttle channel 3 with EPA to keep the amperage below 25, id say around 22-24amp? Will that keep my 25 amp max brushless from frying? I tried it just for a few seconds and was able to hold amps around 22....it also has a crap load more thrust....the difference is like night and day.

Final Question: Does it matter what wattage i am putting out as long as you stay within the amperage limit of the motor? People say the pjs 1000 3d is a 200 watt motor......but pulling 22-23 amps i am showing 240-250 watts.

Default RE: Prop Sizes and EPA control

Wow good question. I dont know if the EPA adjustment would affect an ESC, but I would think in theory it should...

What ya should have done was buy a higher ESC dam that hindsight..
