Eflite Mini Funtana prop sizing??
I just got the Eflite mini funtana for Christmas and flew it for the first time. Really nice plane to fly... My set up is Himax 2025-4200, Himaxx gearbox using 6.6:1, CC 25 esc, Tanics 2220 3S 11.1V (10C-12C). So far I've used the stock Eflite 12x6SF prop that came with the plane but how does the APC 12x6SF or APC 12x6E do with my setup. Has anyone tried the APC 12x8SF with the 6.6:1 ratio? I'm just trying to find a good prop that can put out plenty of hovering thrust but not go ballistic on the amps. I've got a watt meter on its way so I can try to make sense of this new hobby of mine. Thanks for any help.
Thanks,
Sean

Your current setup is perfect! I've tried several different props and the 12x6 E-Flight is best for this plane, plenty of pullout power and keeps the overall speed low, plus long flight times. Hard to beat all of that!

RE: Eflite Mini Funtana prop sizing??
We have been very pleased with the performance of SF props on the MF.
12x6 and 6.6:1 is a Great setup with motors equiavalent to the PK400 4200kv. It is a relatively 'hot' setup, so some care and throttle management are indicated. It has proven very reliable. A little less prop load may be 'easier' for relative beginners.
Any one with some 'E' prop experience should post there feelings.... (We know an 12 x 6 E) is a lighter load with significantly less thrust, and lower amps) Performance is less.

RE: Eflite Mini Funtana prop sizing??
I just got my watt meter in and ran some tests on my mini funtana setup. Himaxx 2025/4200, Tanic 2220 3s 11.1V (10C-12C) Eflite 12x6SF, 6.6:1 gear. I'm getting 15.58 peak amps and around 145-150W. How does that sound? I'm a little new at this so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean
