I want to buy an electric plane that i can hover and i'm not sure what to buy, I want to get one that already has the good motor and the good servos a 40 size thanks

If I read you correctly, you can hover with your glow planes, and you'd like to buy a used 40 size plane already converted to electric, complete with digital servos, brushless motor, multi-pack LiPo's, all ready to hover with.

well i'm not sure what the difference between the two planes are but i'm talking about something like the foamie 3D plane

I drove my yak 54f around the neighborhood never took off but did hover for 5 seconds[8D] (when i was holding vertical and let go[X(])......this all sounds bad but it was just a test and everything worked great so far had to tighten cables and gearbox screw.
never left ground yet waiting for no wind for the first flight

using park370brushless w/ 6.6.1 gearbox 11x8 gws prop, 20 amp esc, 3 featherlite hs-55 servos, hi tec micro 555 receiver, and TP 1320 li po batt.

Im still kinda confused. Most foam electric planes are not as big as a .40 sized glow plane.

Im going to assume you are already an accomplished pilot, so the following list of recommendations are for accomplished pilots only.

A lot depends on what style of flying you want to do, where you plan on flying, and how much you want to spend.

For large outdoor aircraft (not foam) that are electric, I would suggest you take a good look at the Fliton stuff. They make quite a few electric aircraft that are not only hot looking electric planes, but fly well too, and while not quite .40 sized, are fairly large.

If your looking to convert a .40 sized glow plane to electric, this can get expensive. Large brushless motors can easily run $250 or more, and you will have to run 6-8 lipo cells to power it.
There are still quite a few options here though.

Here are my recommendations.
Indoor 3D planes (foam) - Ikarus Shockflyers found at www.shockflyer.com
Outdoor 3D planes (foam) - GWS Formosa(can be modified for 3D), E-flite Ultimate.

Outdoor 3D planes (balsa) - Any of the Fliton electric planes. Mini Funtana,

Outdoor glow conversions - I would suggest looking at the Great Planes .40 kits. In perticular the Ultra Sport 40, looks like it would be a GREAT 3D outdoor plane.

Its offical the yak 54f has flown today and oh my god what a sweet plane this is right off the bat i was hovering flying sideways cut the motor and just hangs in the air all during 10 mph winds!.....forget the tribute ...the yak 54f with my setup is now a proven success....yak54f w/ 370brushless,6.6.1 gearbox 20 amp esc ,1320 li po ,micro 555 receiver
and hs-55 servos...i really like the 11x8 gws prop with this setup...stable ausome plane

man thanks alot... i have a hi tec flashx5 radio and a recever that works with it but it's for a nitro plane is it the same will it work

ailerons plug into channel 1
elevator goes in channel 2
esc which plugs into the motor goes into 3 (throttle)
rudder goes into channel 4
and channel 5 is open for functions but i dont even use channel 5 untill i get
into vpp....this setup is with the hi tec micro 555 receiver on the yak 54f


your going to love this plane flys so easy does 3d even easier
handles the wind seems to float "still" in the sky,,, very trippy ,sick ,insane

i never glued my 10 pin gear to the motor shaft and today she slipped but
the yak just glided down saftley ...what a sweet plane

Here are a couple of ideas from someone who recently got int the 3d foam planes. If I was to do it again I would either get a plane from Fancy foam http://www.fancyfoam.com/ Just about everything you need for $329.00 brushless or $259.00 with a brushed motor. I havent flown one of their models but that is a good deal for a complete setup. Lots of models to choose from.

Or another place is http://www.m-a-e.com/ SLick or Slick extreme; for $200.00 complete this little plane is incredible. If you are planning on a smaller flying area or small indoor place you would not be dissapointed. I do have one of the Slicks and they will perform.[8D] I actually enjoy flying it in some wind better than my larger planes.
