I would like to buy my first electric foamy but after trying a Quasar http://www.icare-rc.com/quasar.htm this weekend, i was a bit desapointed of the power since i could not pulled out from hover.
Any better suggestion for an IMAC pilot who is used to fly gas planes?
Is balsa plane better than foam? The idea is get a small plane to practice 3D indoor and outdoor.

well it is hard to say....unless you know what the system was??
it is easy to get 2:1 on foamies.... I like flying foamies because there is no worry about breaking them...
I haven't done any balsa electrics yet..I'm sure they fly great... but I would be much more nervous with them...
I fly 15 oz Fan FOld/Blucor 3D planes with a Hacker A20 and there is plenty of power......

Fancy Foam sells everything you need (almost) packages, just add your transmitter and a lipo charger and go 3D.
There are many other vendors but I know Fancyfoam pkgs. are well thought out and work great.
The foamy planes are easy to break and very easy to fix (foam safe CA and two minutes later your good to go).
Balsa, as you know, is easy to break, much more work to fix.

If you like the looks of the Quasar im sure the set up on Hobby-lobby is fine for good 3D. I believe it is the axi 2208 on 3 cells.

Some of the new set-ups are pushing 2.5 to 1 power to weight ratio. 12 to 14 ounce planes are getting jerked around by motors putting out 30 to 35 ounces of thrust. The new Hacker A20 series motors are simply awesome for these 14 to 20 ounce planes.
