That's right, it's from Balsa Products. It's the 25" wingspan version. Got a carbon wing spar. Took less than a day to get to here. I'll start the electrics tomorrow.

It's finished with a RTF weight of 8 1/2 ozs. [sm=sunsmiley.gif]It has a BP12 outrunner and BP18 ESP.[sm=punching.gif] 2 Hitech HS-55s on ailerons. A Polks 4.5 gram servo on rudder and a GWS Pico on elevator and a GWS Pico receiver with an E Cubed micro antenna. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif]A 3 cell Kokam 700 completes it.[sm=RAINFRO.gif] Flight report to follow.[sm=bananahead.gif]

I have read 3D and foamy posts till my eyes are bleeding. I have learned alot from all me reading and I cant decide what airplane to start with. I want to start fairly cheap so I'm thinking of getting that same airplane with this setup:

1 Fun Foam Extra 25" Kit
1 Blue Bird BMR-04 Horizontal Pin Fut/Hitec
3 BMS-306 High Performance Sub-Micro Servo
1 BP 15A Brushless ESC
1 BP 12 Outrunner Brushless Motor
1 8 x 4 Direct Drive Black Electric Propeller (EP-8040)
1 E-TEC Lithium Polymer 11.1V 1000mAh HP

Total $171.22 shipped from Balsa Products
I might add an extra battery for $39.99.

I dont have any Lipo batteries or experience using them. I am getting an LN-5014 charger locally. I already have a Hitec Laser 4 radio. This would be my first 3D airplane I learned on a Slow Stick and a TigerMoth 400. But I want something small, light, aerobatic, and fun that I can fly around my culdesac and in a gym. I just want something controllable and fun to fly when the wind isnt blowing too much. The flight pack is available seperately for $153.27 if there is a more reccomended plane for a 3D newby. I probably wont be doing that much 3D to beging with, I really like to just fly around slow and do loops and rolls, so a basic airplane is probably fine. Please post any comments or suggestions as I could really use them.

Skip the 25" version and get the 32" one. It flies much better. I also have the Hobby Lobby Yak and it flies better also and is on sale for $19.90.

Thanks for the reply. The Hobby Lobby Yak was one I was considering. Would the gear above work with that? Or should I just keep it simple and get the 32" version? And by "it flies much better" do you mean easier, more control, or what? And is the above gear adequate for the 32"?

According to the BP specs, it's the same recommended motor. The 25" seemed "twitchy" like it needed more wing area. The 32" is much smoother. The 32' and HL Yak are close enough to be the same, without being the same. You would save the postage by getting it all at BP, but the C-foam that they use is a little brittle; it's stronger than Depron but at a point, it doesn't bend, it snaps.
