I'm still a newb as far as knowing calculation stuff with electrics... however I was wondering if this is strange
I have a tribute with a himax 2015-4100 I only have to props.. a 12x6 and a 10x4.7, I'm using a phoenix 25 esc and the 6.6:1 gear setting..
I'm using a 900 mah tp 3 cell pack and for some reason it performs noticeably better with the smaller prop... The throttle curve is weird with the bigger prop and it takes more throttle to 3d... Is this normal?
I thought about trying an 11x4.7 so that I didn't completely underprop the motor... and its still smaller than the 12x6

I run the same motor/GBX, and CC25 with TP 1320's. 12x6 GWS prop is no problem with this Bat. I have also run with great success on 13-14oz foamy planes GWS 11x4.7 and GWS 11x8. all were slow fly props, could also go to HD props. A buddy was running I believe a GWS HD 10x6.

Whats the "C" rating on the pack? if its say 10C than the most you can theoreticaly draw is 9amp before you loose voltage and or start to potentialy damage the pack

no if you were experiencing voltage cut or weird throttle response with both props then it might be your battery. understanding the perfect 3D prop takes some time with different applications and what not.but heres probably what your experiencing. the 12x6 gives you ok power not a lot of pull out power, where the 10x4.7 you can see your motor accel. try maybe an 11x3.8 apc. that would be more in the middle. although 10x4.7 is definately my prop of choice for a lot of the mid weight electrics. if you try an 11x3.8 and still like the 10x4.7 just test how hot the motor gets with it it might be hot but make sure it dosent hav a bad smell from it. so no un less you were experiencing the problems i stated at the top it is NOT your battey props do make that much of a difference.
