Also, does the power combo come with a spinner? Whats this adapter? Is it like a spinner?

Thanks a lot. For the battery, I'll be using the Li-Po 5S1P 3300mAh 18.5V 22C
and 4x HS-425BB for the servos. For the prop, i think ill use a 16x8. Would all these things make a good 3D/pattern flying plane? Sorry, This is going to be my first aerobat and I'm only 13.

Eric B.

I'm using an AXI 4120/14 with 4S-1P 20C 4000 MAH Pack, Swinging a APC 14/7 prop. Weight is 86 ounces and thrust to weight is 98.9%.

I originally had a AXI 4130 on it and using 5S-1P 5000 MAH it flew OK, but was overweight by about 20 oz. Now that I have reduced the weight by 20 oz, it flies much better, and landings are much better. Havent taken the gear off in a long time.

I use an FMA VRL-1 Voltage regulator and a separate 2S - 1P Lipo for Servos and Receiver. Castle creations 60 AMP ESC, and it draws 57 AMPS at WOT. Flight times are in the range of 12-14 minutes. Inverted flight requires no down Elevator at all at half throttle, which is where most of the flight is done. Batteries come down cool to cold.

I'm using the Hitec HS225MG servos all around and they have no problem. My Transmitter is Futaba 9C with the XPS Spread Spectrum Module and 8 channel receiver.

Hello,

I might be able to get a hand on some Alpha Trainer 60 servos. They seem to be ....527. Should they work well in the yak 54? They might be too powerful. Is it worth the try?

Thanks

Eric

It's not a problem to have servos that are powerful. The stronger the better. But the main thing with electric is weight. It is better to use servos that are both powerful and light which is why I chose the servos I did. They are strong and yet light.

By the way, how high is the canopy bubble at it's highest? How wide and long is it? I need these dimensions becase I'm looking for a pilot. What size pilot fits well?

hello,

Ok, I calculated that the NES-527 servos would be about 0.16 oz heavier (per servo), which means my plane would weight about 0.65 oz more. For a 54 inch wingspan, is that to much of a difference? thanks for all the help.

Maybe not! Mine was flown at 6 Lb 7 oz originally. But in all honesty, it flies better now down to 5 Lb 3 oz. This was accomplished by going down one size in motor, lightest possible servos, and changing from 5S-1P pack to 4S-1P packs. The plane floats in for a landing now, where it really was hot at the heavier weight.

With Electric, keep it light to get the performance that the plane is capable of. The lighter the better, and sometimes even a couple of ounces can make a difference.

also, the pack that the receiver and servos use is a 650 mAh. I think a 600 mAh pack would work better. Again, it's lighter than the 650, which is very good. Here is what I would like to equip the yak with:

4xhs-425bb servos
600 mAh reciver pack
4S-4000 mAh motor battery
Supreme II 8 channel receiver
Engine: Z4020-14
ESC: TITAN 80 OPTO
4 channel transmitter for now, later change to 6 channel

That seems ok, doesn't it?

Should do the job. I have 5 servos on mine. 2 for Aileron, 2 for Elevator halves, and one on Pull-Pull Rudder.
The rest seems to be pretty standard for this plane.

thanks

I'll convert this Yak to glow. I'll be using an OS .46 AX with an APC 12.25x3.75. Servos will be DS821 all around. Just one servo on elevators. 5 cell nicad for radio (r7000).
Obviously I will have to reinforce the firewall as well as fuel proof it.

As a semi scale plane, it's good at both aerobatic and 3D, but it's not good for beginner aerobatic/3D pilot, trust me, I have crashed it 3 times[]. I'm planning to beef it up again and use some glow engine.
doublesixes Please let me know how it flies with OS 46, is it enough for 3d?

Tarts, sorry for the long delay in answering your question. The answer is YES. The Yak flies great with the OS 46AX but you will have to use an APC 12.25X3.75 and a minimum of 5% nitro. I flew good with 11X6 and 0% nitro but it did not have punch out from hover.
I'm building a second Yak but with the Russian Thunder paint scheme that will be powered by the OS 55AX, slightly more powerful than the 46 and just a tad heavier. It should be all out 3d. Will let you know how it goes. Take care and good luck.

Hi guys,

I'm making from this Yak. I can not to make a decision for the power plant. I have two options , YS 63S ,Saito 62 or electric motor.

I will use Hitec HS 225MG mini servos for ailerons and rudder ,HS 85 MG's on both elevator sides.

Can you please advise ,is YS 63S or Saito 62 suitable for this model ?

Best Regards

Mehmet ARCASOY
