It would help if we knew which variant of the 480 you are using; there are two and they are very different.

Also, we can't recommend a prop unless you tell us what pack you are using.

Good, in that case you could use both props you have without much to fear but the best all around would probably be 12x6. 10x7 will be great for fast pattern, 12x7 will give you insane climbout and great speed, but i am pretty sure it will load up a bit more than your pack can take continuously so some management will be necessary. Mind you with that kind of power flying around at 60% throttle won't exactly feel like a compromise

I have not done a flat spin yet, but see my post #180 because the manual cg is very very forward for an aerobatic plane, and not good at all for 3D!

Mine flatspins like a top. Do you have full control surface throws?

need some help here - my seagull 300ep wont seem to fly level, and looks out of trim - here is the current setup, climbs like a rocket at full power, needs up elevator inverted... what to adjust, thrust angle, CG, aileron adjustment (move both up or down)...??

Oh man, i loved this plane (as a seagul extra), it was great. So that, + the fact that you always wanted a Patty i see no shame in overpaying to get it as long as you can afford it and you know that you are consciously overpaying for a variation of a product that costs about 40% less.

I'd like one too, but i have so many planes already that i just can't justify it and i don't want it "169.99$" badly.

If i did though, what i would do is contact the only local hobby shop i know of that carries some graupner stuff and ask it if he can get it for me at a better price. He's in Canada but he ships worldwide. Send him an email, you have nothing to loose. http://www.icare-rc.com/index.htm

That is wierd, and they are recommending 2100 to 3200 3-4 cell lipos and 5 servos, and this motor : http://www.jperkinsdistribution.co.u...rs%20-%20EnErG

160 grams which is well over twice what it should weigh, but makes only 295 watts on a 3s pack with a 10x5 prop. I'm pretty sure given the chance i could make it fly nice (by hand picking my own gear for it)

Did you reinforce the elevator and horizontal stab? That is this plane's Achilles heal so to speak; feed it a lot of energy and it will fail. I am guessing there was nothing wrong with your hinge adhesive, but the elevator failed and the force of it flapping ripped the hinges out, just a guess...

I did read a nice trick for ca hinges though; fold the hinge many times at the middle to make it easy to deflect, then rub the line it creates with wax crayon to prevent ca from being absorbed on this section, then take a small drill bit and make small holes in each hinge slots to allow the ca to wick deep in there. remember; no kicker on the hinges.

Good tip there. My dad, who has been in the hobby since the 60s, actually gave me a another tip for securing hinges. Once the hinge is in place per the instructions you drill a toothpick size hole thru the wing going thru the hinge...then simply put a toothpick thru the hole , trim it flush and a dab of thin CA . You can use a majic marker to color the toothpick/dowels to match the surface. He said he does this to all his planes and has never had a hinge pull out.

just glued them wings and took it for a spin.. man that thin CA just penetrated thru the hinges. just like before. dont want to make the same mistake so i made sure i glued them again 3 hours later after the maiden flight. lots of speed during landing. can really hover really well with this plane. harrie is really nice and no wing rock. deathslide(knife-edge) is really easy and looks great passing by 6 ft off the ground. rolling harrier, a bit squirly. flap spin is a breeze. blender is really easy to achieve . death roll .. kinda have to fight it just to loop it self. over all ....i like it...

good idea about putting a toothpick thru the hinges.. gonna try that on my new plane... fliton's edge 540. bigger motor and atleast 60A ESC.

For anyone doing 3D with this plane, can you post your throws for all control surfaces? The settings for the manual are way off, and I like to get some settings from folks doing good 3D.
Thx

45 degrees everywhere with plenty of expo (75%+) on the elevator, about 25-30% on the rudder and 50% on the ailerons worked well for me when i had one of these.

Maidened mine yesterday.

Eflight Park 480
11x7 prop
2100 20C lipo
35A ESC

A fun flier... but I'm going to test a 12x6e today. I think it needs just a bit more umph! So far, this plane seems to like to be moving forward, but that could be just a bad prop selection. I did put 2" foam wheels on it. I was easily able to navigate our converted from old hayfield to airstrip just two months ago landing strip. Does much better than my Typhoon which pretty much demands a hand launch.

I have triple rates set up. Low, medium and as much as I could get/high. Using up elevator on the airstrip did a nice job of keeping the prop out of the grass but what surprised me, is I could control the ground speed with the elevator. More up just forced the tail dragger wire more into the ground acting as a rear brake. It was very obvious.

I didn't do much with it in just a couple of 6 minute flights. Only took about 2 clicks of left aileron and a click or two of up elevator to trim it in. NICE! I'm still new to this hobby... just a few months now.. and I've not gotten the KE down yet... but during one of these flights it came together for me for a while and I was able to KE it easily for maybe 10 seconds under total control. Almost 0 input on the right stick. That was nice. I did do some loops and rolls and the plane was very stable. I'm impressed!

My five minute flight took only 580 mAh out of the battery, so 15 minutes should for sure be doable... 20 minutes of easy flight.

BTW, I've named this plane 'Jumbo'!
