E-Flite Extra 260
Anyone seen or flown this plane? It's new from e-flite, and was just curious about it. There are a couple videos on e-flite's site.
Here's a link to the plane: http://www.e-fliterc.com/Products/De...ProdID=EFL2300

Actually I just had the chance to see a couple fly at the JR Indoor Festival. Seemed to fly great. Alot like the Shockflyers in looks and performance which is a good thing. Definitely a plane of interest for future foamie investments.

Yeah it's definitely on my list of planes to buy, I like the fact that's it pretty small (32 in. ws) and will be great to fly at night in a parking lot, or even indoors.

I saw it today too! Unfortunately, not going to pick it up, no MONEY!!!!!!!! E-flite says a 300 motor is best, or a 370 with a hollow shaft, does this mean a regular 370 wouldn't work well?

Hi,
Hollow shaft 370 is reccomended for the Showstopper Variable Pitch Propellor.
The 300 is the reccomended setup for non-VPP.
Many other choices will work as well. The normal 370 outrunner motors work fine. The lead 300 setup was chosen because we feel many customers want the lightest optimum low wing loading indoor setup.
(I actually like the Cyclon Micro a lot on the 260... many team guys were flying this setup at the JR indoor fest!)

Hope this helps,

Cant really call it a build. Its pretty much done out of the box. Just assemble it. Its the best EfL plane I have assembled.
Engineered really well.
Hope to fly it indoors tonight.

I talked to a friend who flew his yesterday, he was disappointed. He said it flew heavy and this is someone that has flown almost every piece of foam out there. I almost bought one and decided to go with a Shocky instead.

I swear I saw videos at one time, I don't know what happened. I've been looking everywhere, no luck.

I opened the box today at the lhs. I love the trim scheme, but the strength of the kit seem questionable. I doubt it will be able to take any kind of punishment. I'm really not sure if I want to buy it, anyone that has one.....PLEASE POST YOUR REVIEW HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RE: E-Flite Extra 260
Hey Everyone
I am in a predicamnet here, not sure whether to buy the E-Flite Extra 260 or the Shockflyer Yak 54. Kind of wiery about rc-sports quote
"I talked to a friend who flew his yesterday, he was disappointed. He said it flew heavy and this is someone that has flown almost every piece of foam out there. I almost bought one and decided to go with a Shocky instead."
I almost ordered one from Great Hobbies but decided to hold on because of rc-sports quote. G H does not have any in stock right now because they are new stock and will be getting them in 2 or 3 weeks. I want to buy the yak because of the videos I've and the forums I have read. Only problem is that I have an GSM Outrunner and wondered if anyone has some tips on specs to cut the foam at to fit the motor in. The Extra 260 has a precut space for outrunner motors and it looks like a solid plane and that is why I was interested. I previously used this motor in my shockflyer edge which had high power throughout the entire flight. Only problem is is that the motor fell off everytime I would land because of nosing over (I usually catch it in a hover but somedays its a bit too windy). Very weak setup and hard to make strong. It was also hard to get the foam cut so that the motor was somewhat align with the fuselage. Please leave tips and thoughts on how to make the Yak strong and durable for an Outrunner Brushless Motor. Thanks

I really can;t give you an answer right now, and I only say that because I haven't heard a review from a person that actually flew it. Wait a bit, and see what people say about the Extra 260, then decide.

RE: E-Flite Extra 260
wow thats hard b. bishop to say which is better. i have both the yak is bigger weighing in at 8.5 oz all up and the extra is smaller 6.5 all up and i do not mean smaller and larger in not only a weight sense but also in a physical sense. now i have only had experience with the extra inside. yes i have done a few mods to get the extra that light. i did sacrifice some of the carbon fiber for weight im past the wack a foamie everytime i fly stage not all saying i dont crash but theyre less severe. so if you are more prone to wacking the plane around a bit id leave the carbon fiber on, but the yak ive had 5 of them ive had experience with over 25 different foamies from building to flying, and still by far the yak is my favorite in its class, better stock than any flatout could dream to be, id say if you have any doubt you could never go wrong with the yak 54 from ikarus

RE: E-Flite Extra 260
as far as my review of the STOCK extra ive seen 2 of them fly indoors at a hobby shop i worked at. one by the rep from e-flite, and one by a local kid. they both wacked them a couple times hardly any damage. with all that carbon fiber theyre suprisingly durable(compared to others with no carbon fiber) and the flight was beautiful i didnt see any bad tendencies. they seemed to be doing 3ft diameter rolling harriers with ease and many other manuvers that would normally look more sloppy with a stock plane. thats pretty good for a stock plane id say, i cant wait to fly mine its weiging in at 6.5 with battery, with 2 picos no back cases, and 1 hs-55 for the ailerons, and a himax motor outrunner. 7.4 480 thunderpower
