Default Mini deans connectors ok??

Guys,

I was in the hobby shop buying a brushless setup for my foamie. The guy sold me a apogee lithium 3-cell 11.1 volt and I thought deans ultra connectors. instead he sold me the mini connectors. my question is would these be ok to run with this battery???

Thanks,

Brian

It depends on the current draw not the battery.
In some articles it mentioned that if you are drawing more than 10amps it would be better to use the larger deans connectors.
Less than 10 amps use the small Deans. I 'm sure this is an approximation .
So it depends on your motor and prop ,which connector to use.

I'd say 15A go with the mini deans, any bigger go with real deans. I run the JST connector on anything under 15A, and have had no problems.

I nearly fried a speed control using the mini deans connectors, but not because of too much juice. I had purchased a speed control from another guy who had the same connector, but he had set his up w/reverse polarity from mine. I didn't check closely first and you can imagine the end result when I plugged the two connectors together. I now use only full size Dean's connectors, not for power handling, but because they are keyed in a way that keeps me from being stupid.

You can key the mini deans by removing one of the male prongs and using a Female on 2 connectors. You can pull the prongs out with a needle nose .
