I nearly fried a speed control using the mini deans connectors, but not because of too much juice. I had purchased a speed control from another guy who had the same connector, but he had set his up w/reverse polarity from mine. I didn't check closely first and you can imagine the end result when I plugged the two connectors together. I now use only full size Dean's connectors, not for power handling, but because they are keyed in a way that keeps me from being stupid.
