e-flite mini edge 540
I'm new to this hobby, my other hobby is stock car racing (dirt latemodels). My question is I'm now flying mini edge 540 from e-flite. There is a square hole about 1/2 way back on the bottom of the fusealodge, can I put white covering over it or will this cause the motor/speed control/battery to overheat or damage them. I'm using the recommended motor/speed control/battery. Any ideas and opinions are welcome.

Leave the hole as it is very helpfull to remove heat for the battery and ESC.
You say you're using the recommended power system? They recomend 2: A 450 outrunner and a 480. Which are you using?

I'm using the park 400 brushless motor 4200kv the hobby shop was out of 2100 lipos so I'm using some 1320's and a 1250 till the new shipment arrives. Ive been averaging 5-10 min flights. I also swapped the 10 tooth motor pinion for the 12 that came with motor and the plane has really come to life. Before with the 10 tooth pinion it really didn't climb, hover, or react with much authority. Before this plane I have been flying e-flite's ultimate and tribute foamies mostly and still playing around with a slow stick with a brushless set-up while teaching my 12 year old daughter to fly around the backyard and field.

What is the best way to check the amp draw? And what should it be for the motor and battery combo? I'm wanting to get the 2100 15c lipo thunder power/2100 15c dymond modelsports or there is a 2200 12c from parkzone. Could you use 7.4 2 cell 2200 instead of 11.1 3 cell listed before and save weight and flying time? I'm using the 4200kv 400 can motor 20amp e-flite speed control as listed in the building manual, with the exception of the 12 tooth pinion instead of the 10 on the motor.
