49" QQ Yak-Hacker A30-12L Help
I just completed this plane and it flys great, but power is really bad. What battery should I run? Should I use a 3 or 4 cell, what size? Also what prop is best for this motor?
I want to get all I can out of this motor. Did I get the wrong motor?
Thanks

Set-up on http://crcproducts.ca/crc%20airplanes/
Hacker A30-14L or equivilent
ESC Hacker X40 PRO-SBEC (NOTE)
Battery FlightPower 2500-3300 3 or 4 cell Lipo
Propeller APC 14x7E (3s) 13x6.5 (4s)
I've seen the above fly with a 3300 3s flightpower and it seemed to have lots of power.

What prop are you using and was your pack warm/hot at the end of the flight?
How long was your flight?
What battery are you using?

RE: 49" QQ Yak-Hacker A30-12L Help
Hacker recommends a very small prop like a 10X7 or something, but that seems tiny for a motor this size. Best performance seems to be from a 13X6, but I dont think I have enough battery (2100 3s) pretty good power for about 1 1/2 minutes. I just bought a 3000 3s but have yet to try it. Maybe a 4s pack is the way to go??

Yea, I'd say your pack is not up to par, or your hammering on it too much.
Was the pack hot?
3000mha seems too big for a 3cell in the plane, it will weigh as much as a 2500 4cell, but it wont provide the same voltage/power/thrust.
Veritical will suffer.
On Hackers website, the recommended props vs the amp/watt ratings dont really match, even at 14.8v.
But it does say your motor is good for 40amps and 500 watts burst...
I'd trade that 3000 pack back in (hopefully its still in its bag?), for a 2500 25c 3cell pack or two.
Then try a APC 13x6.5 prop.
I guess its ok to run the 3000, but it is a bit heavy... your run times will be better I suppose.
On my 900Kv motor (yours is 1000Kv) a APC 13x6.5E prop draws right at 40 amps and produces about 425 watts on my 25c 2500 packs.
Your motor will draw a bit more than that.
You should get about 6 minutes and the pack should be warm.
Back to your first pack...
Do you have any thoughts about it dying after 1.5 minutes?
New or Old? Balance charged?
Ever been drained below 3v per cell?

No the packs have never been drained too low. They are TP 2100 extreme packs, 50c burst or something. Power is great for a short time, but I can fly around at less power after that, probably another 5 minutes, and the packs arent hot, just no power.
So you think a 4 cell is the way to go. Oh and I am using the 13X6.5E.
THANKS ALOT FOR YOUR HELP

I really dont know...
I did get a bad TP 2070 recently... flew fine for the first 5 or 6 cycles, then it became almost worthless.
It never really died fast, it just got lazy after a minute or so.
