Hello,i'm looking for a first 3d plane,i would like to keep the price under $250,if possible.i have no idea where to start and don't even have a radio or anything.i don't need the top=of-then line plane, just one to get started and learn how to hover and what-not.and if possible get a little plane, maybe a foamie or something, for gyms and my backyard and stuff, just to to little stuff like hovers.thanks for any advice!

i would get your self a cheep radio and make your self a profile 3D foamy out of some plans you can find on the net cheep servos motor esc and depron foam i am just about to make myself one this week. but if it is your first ever plane you might want to look at geting an instructor a simulator a trainer and a club.or if u just want to get into parkflyers and things you could look into geting a hbbyzone supercub
good luck and happy flying

Look I don't want to knock HobbyZone planes. They're probably fine. I'm familiar with the Typhoon. I've seen it flown alot. I wouldn't get it for your first 3D. Stick with the flat foam wing planes. Stay with the (approx) 37"-38" wing planes. They'll weigh less that 16oz. Get a Hacker 20/20L, a Berg receiver, a 1320mhr 3cell Thunderpower battery, and 4 Hitec HS55 servos, an APC 11X3.8 prop. You'll need a charger for the battery. I have two foam planes both flat wing. One has 28" wing (DW Foamies) weighs 4.5oz. The other has 38" wing (Charger RC) and weighs about 16oz. The larger plane flys as well as any plane I own. Don't let people tell you they fall out of the sky when the throttle is cut. Mine will land at a crawl. I mean, let the tail touch and cut the throttle and it drops to the ground. I'm amazed at how well it flies. The small plane really needs to be flown inside but I have flown it outside twice and it "don't like the wind", any wind.
Add up the price of the stuff above and the plane costs $49 and comes with everything you need except the stuff I listed.

DW Foamies has a great first 3D foamie. The 38" Yak 54 is what I learned to 3D on, and it is still teaching me, even with 9 months of 3D practice, flying several times a day (I have gotten as far as rolling harriers now).
Mike has a great steal on a combo deal too. $110 for your choice of plane (I would go with the yak), a brushless outrunner, a 20 amp BL ESC, and 4 servos.
Mike wouldn't sell electronics that aren't quality, and it really shows. I'm using the same servos as in the combo in my Yak, and they have plenty of torque. Never have stripped, as far as I know, and provide plenty of torque for hard core 3D.
Also, Mike has 1000 mah lipos for $22 a piece, I believe. They're 3 cell, with a 20C discharge rate-plenty of juice for the plane. Same weight/size as comparable thunder power lipos.
