I have a hacker A30-10XL with a thunderbird 54I will be puttingina Gary Wright E3D. I was wondering what would be a good lipo to run with this set up.

With the Thunderbird 54 ESC, if you are not going to use a seperate BEC, you are going to be limited to 3s LiPo's. The A30-10XL will run great on either 3s or 4s.

The plane specs. that I could find call for a 4000-5000mah+/- 3s pack.

Dumb question whats a BEC?

A BEC is a battery eliminator circuit. It allows you to power your reciever module and servos from the motor battery instead of having to use a separate battery for motor, separate battery for RX and servos.</p>

I thought the thunderbird 54 does send power to the RX?</p>

I run a phoenix 45 amp SC so not familiar with the Thunderbird 54. Tower says it's good for 3s only but thats good for swinging larger props. Start with a 13x7ish prop and maybe try a 14x7 but watch the batteries for heating up. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...LXUTB2&amp;P=0
yes it has a 3 amp bec.</p>

I dont have it in front of me but i think my prop is 12x6.5

12x6.5 will be plenty of prop for flying a plane. The Motor will swing a bigger prop but it doesn't have to. The bigger prop is mainly for 3D'ing a light airplane. A 12x6.5 would be better for a heavier scale job.
